Skadis Machine Quilting Ruler Holder
Six ¼-inch slots for thick machine-quilting rulers — hangs on any IKEA Skadis pegboard, no hardware.
Machine-quilting rulers are chunky — milled thicker than standard patchwork rulers so they can ride against a hopping foot without flexing, which means most Skadis ruler racks are too thin to hold them. This holder fixes that: six wide slots keep your thick rulers upright, separated, and a fingertip away from the machine — and it clicks straight onto the Skadis pegboard you already have over your sewing station.

Built for the thick ones
A working set of machine-quilting rulers, held upright, separated, and a fingertip from the machine.
Six ¼-inch slots
6 rulersEach slot is just over 6 mm wide — enough for a working set of thick machine-quilting rulers. Every ruler is separated, so you grab the one you want without fanning the whole stack.
Integrated Skadis hooks
No hardwarePrint-in-place hooks kept at stock Skadis dimensions — no separate clips or screws. Snap it onto the pegboard you already have, load it, and quilt.
Rounded, snag-free edges
Smooth pullEvery slot edge is rounded, so nothing catches a ruler edge or a thread as you pull a ruler out or drop it back in.
Why it's a remix, not just a scale-up
This holder began as a remix of a great horizontal Skadis ruler holder — the Skadis Ruler Holder – Horizontal by Ornahmental — but the fix was less obvious than it looks. You can't simply scale the original up to fit thicker rulers: scaling the whole model also lengthens the integrated Skadis hooks, and over-long hooks no longer seat correctly in the pegboard.
So only the part that needed to change was changed. The ruler slots were opened up to ¼ inch — just over 6 mm — while the hooks were kept at stock Skadis dimensions, so they still snap in and hold firm. The result carries the extra weight of a full set of machine-quilting rulers without pulling off the board.

One dialed-in print profile — no supports to configure
| Print profile | Slots | Print time | Plates |
|---|---|---|---|
| Designer profile — 0.4 mm nozzle · 0.24 mm layer · 4 walls · 10% infill | 6 | ~5.1 h | 1 |
Print time is for the designer profile on MakerWorld. The holder prints as a single plate — snap off the supports under the hooks and it's ready to hang.
- Material — PETG recommended. PLA prints fine and looks great, but the hooks can slowly deform under the weight of a loaded rack. PETG's flexibility holds up better for a part under constant load.
- Printers: Prints on Bambu Lab A, P, X and H series — one profile fits them all.
- Supports: normal supports, generated only under the Skadis hooks. No brim needed.
- No assembly: the hooks print in place — snap off the supports and the holder is ready to hang.
- 4 walls — the extra perimeters carry the load of a fully loaded rack, keeping the part stiff where the rulers press against the slots.
- 10% gyroid infill — with four walls doing the structural work, gyroid at 10% is plenty. It saves filament and print time without giving up strength.
- Normal supports, XY distance increased — supports are only needed under the hook overhangs. Backing them off the hook faces makes them pop off cleanly and keeps the hooks smooth where they seat in the board.
- 0.24 mm layer height — no fine detail needs thinner layers, so this keeps the print fast.
